Designer's Notes
This piece began with a conversation I will never forget.
A bride came to us carrying two cultures — Chinese and Mexican — and wanted both honoured equally on her wedding day. Not blended into something generic. Not one culture dressed in the costume of another. Both fully present, both fully themselves, woven together into a single garment.
We started with the foundation of a traditional Qun Kwa — red silk, the colour of joy and prosperity in Chinese wedding tradition. Then we filled it with her story. A cheetah for speed and power. An eagle for freedom and strength. Cactus standing alongside peonies — the desert and the garden, two landscapes that shaped her. Cats, because they were hers.
Every motif was chosen in conversation. Every detail placed by hand.
