About JINZA | Custom Qipao and Chinese Wedding Dresses

JINZA was created to preserve the heritage of Chinese craftsmanship through custom Qipao, Tang suits, and wedding dresses.

Our mission is to keep that art form alive — one stitch, one story at a time.

Our Story

Founded in 2002. JINZA began with a simple wish: to keep cultural craftsmanship alive.
What started in San Francisco grew into a Los Angeles atelier known for hand-embroidered Qipao, Chinese wedding dresses, and Tang suits.
Every design carries the values of patience, precision, and meaning.

Grace's story

I didn’t grow up with wedding photos or family heirlooms. After the cultural war, everything was gone — the photos, the records, even the memory of what our family once made.

Years later, a bride asked me to make her a Qipao. I said yes, but first I had to study what we had lost. That moment led to a new beginning.

But it wasn’t a journey I took alone.

Where our logo comes from

JINZA is more than a name — it’s a tribute.

It honors Jinza JIN, the founder of Jinza Bridal in San Francisco, who started her design journey at nineteen.

She made my wedding dress in 2010 and taught me how to sew from scratch.

Because of her, I found the courage to leave my corporate job and open my own atelier in Los Angeles in 2012.

The word JIN (金) remains — to honor her, and to remind us that teaching, kindness, and tradition are worth passing down.

Made by hand in los angeles

Our small team of artisans works quietly, guiding every thread by hand.

We blend traditional Chinese embroidery with modern design to create pieces that feel timeless and personal.

Lani, Head Seamstress — shapes each dress with care and precision.

Sally, Pattern Maker — turns ideas and sketches into perfect fits.

Thy, Master Embroiderer — brings each piece to life through detailed handwork.

Kan, Qipao Maker — carries on the traditional craftsmanship of old Shanghai.

What We Believe

We believe clothing can hold memory.

A Qipao or Tang suit is more than attire, it tells who you are, where you come from, and what you value.

Each piece we make is created with respect for the past and purpose for the future.

Carrying Stories Forward

Many of our designs are inspired by family — from a grandmother’s lotus pond to a mother’s favorite flower.

We hope each dress or Tang suit becomes part of your own story, passed down with pride and love.
