Designer's Notes
The modern Chinese wedding dress, Xiuhe Suit, is with flared sleeves and A line skirt to wear for Chinese tea ceremony.
The Xiu He Fu is a modern creation of Chinese Wedding Dress that inspired by gowns from the late Qing Dynasty (1910s). It gained popularity in 2001 when actress Zhou Xun wore it in her wedding scenes in the Chinese drama “Ju Zi Hong Le.” The gown’s name originates from Zhou Xun’s character, Xiu He.
Compared to the Qun Kwa, the Xiu He Fu tends to be bolder and less traditional, offering a unique blend of historical elegance and contemporary flair.
The Xiu He Fu Peony is an exquisite gown that matches the level of embroidery found in the Xiao Wu Fu of Qun Kwa. This unique piece features a beautiful red silk base adorned with gold and silver threads, accented with colorful piping threads to depict vibrant pink and red flower petals and lush green leaves. The peony, symbolizing prosperity and good fortune, is one of the most auspicious symbols to have on your wedding day.
Elegant Alternative: The peony is the best alternative for brides who prefer not to have the traditional dragon and phoenix motifs. The peonies are larger in scale and more vivid in shape and color compared to the traditional Qun Kwa designs.
A modern tang suit with generation belt is a perfect match for the look.
